BARCELONA… along golden beaches!

The capital of Catalonia is considered the most beautiful city of the world! Golden beaches, where the city is located, are sufficient to render it a charming place. Its unique character is also created by artists.  Not only the houses and churches are the masterpieces here, but even ordinary benches. The extraordinary look of Barcelona was created by Antonio Gaudi, whose architecture is reminiscent of fairy tales. His particularly renowned work is the church of Sagrada Familia - from a distance resembling a huge sand castle, but at a closer look surprising with masterfully sculpted details. His Park Guell with the world's longest, 152 m long, bench looks like a scenery from a fantastic fairy tale!

We must not forget that Spain is renowned for its incredible, aromatic wines. A typical Iberian meal becomes heavenly when combined with this noble beverage.

Spanish tortilla

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cup of sliced potatoes
  • large-grained salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup red onion, cut into 3 mm dice
  • 1 cup cut chorizo sausage (or other)
  • 8 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon chopped thyme
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Preparation:
Heat up the oven to 180C degrees. Put potatoes in a pot, add cold water and a teaspoon of salt, boil for 1 minute, then put aside for 5 minutes and strain (so that slices don't break). Heat up the oil in a large frying pan and fry chorizo with onion, until soft. Beat the eggs with a pinch of salt, pepper and thyme. Mix the eggs with potatoes, onion and chorizo sausage. Heat olive oil on a frying pan until very hot, pour in the egg mixture and swirl so that it spreads out evenly across the entire pan. Put into oven and bake for about 30 minutes. Serve on a plate with hot tomato sauce.
